My thoughts and prayers are with those who reside in the Midwest; the third largest storm on record (in USA) with hurricane-force gusts and numerous tornados. The newcaster claimed this storm is second to the one which sank the Edmund Fitzgerald (Lake Michgan?) Reports of over 300,000 people have lost power. Lots of damage. I pray you and your trees will make it through this storm. It is suppose to last until Thursday.

Not the midwest by a long shot, but we're under a tornado warning now.

That's right, North Carolina, Tennessee and some other states are affected. I think the Blue Rigde Mtns. are keeping it away from Central Virginia. I hope you fair well!

We had a tornado warning this morning, lots of wind. A few bonsai knocked over. Big trees down, semis off the road. But no tornado and only a little rain.

Hopefully you didn't lose any major branches off your bonsai...

We lost power about 10 minutes after I posted. High winds. Tornado swept through about 3 miles from here. Relatively little damage since we live in the middle of nowhere.

I had 4.75 inches of rain overnight. Glub glub. All's well though.

And to think we complain about our weather over here in England. Kind of puts it in perspective really.

I'm glad you're okay! We just had some wind and about two inches of rain I think.

Speaking of weird weather phenomenon.... In my landscape: Witchhazel and Full Moon Maple are blooming. Ground covers are starting to pop up in the yard. All with the beautiful Fall colors!

Best, Todd

Seems like everyone is OK, glad to hear it. Spent last Saturday with an old friend. He lost his machine shed last year to a tornado, just got the new one finished and helped him move his gear back in. tornadoes are nasty and pay absolutely no attention to your economic status, political importance or geographical location.

Another 4+ inches yesterday, but it's supposed o clear up. We take an every-morning 3-mile walk beside the Pacolet river and I'm betting it's high and muddy today.

The rest of the morning will be spent in adding soil to my pots where it was washed out by the torrents.
