lovely trees Andrei, really like the one on the rock slab,
beautiful bark, what is the species?
Must get very cold over there, how do you protect trees in winter?

Many thanks, everybody!

The indian summer around Moscow (sounds funny but anyway!) is very brief normally, hence should be really treasured. Smile

John, this is a yamadori cork barked elm specie from Caucasus that is ideal for bonsai due to its small leaves and spectacular bark. Except for some of the local trees I have to keep most of my trees in the cellar in the house from end-October till early-mid March...

This photo was taken a few years ago and by now I can hardly fit everything I need. Had to think about building a bigger place. Smile

You collect yourself Andrea?
I like it very much, it's very similar to what we call Siberian elm in UK,
I wonder if its the same?

Tree collecting is a great fun, isn't it, John?

Siberian elm is quite similar, but not exactly the same. I suspect this one is not as hardy as Siberian one. I'll try to inquire with professional dendrologists and will let you know... Rolling Eyes

very nice Pol,
I love the bark, and small leaves, everything you would wish for in Bonsai material.

It's nice to hear of bonsai in Russia, I imagined it would be so cold as to make life for trees very difficult, but as Andrea showed, you find a way.
I just had an order from Moscow for several shohin pots, do you have a thriving club out there?
How many enthusiasts in Moscow?

Greetings, John, in Russia not so it is cold, as it seems. Andrey uses a hothouse and a cellar, I use a hothouse and a balcony. Many our trees winter in an open ground.
The club is created almost 3 years ago, Andrey our head. The club develops, but it is not enough participants, art a bonsai not so is popular in Russia, as in Europe. In Moscow fans a bonsai which seriously are fond, no more than 100 persons. In Russia only one serious shop a bonsai. Many necessary things have started to order through the Internet.
At all of us ahead!

Great collection Andrei, I really like the chinese quince, it has a beautiful trunk and this species is very slow to thicken. We are just in the middle of spring here.
