Pot Workshop

Dave Jones of Walsall Studio Ceramics is leading an all day workshop for my club (Vale of Clwyd Bonsai Society) today. I could only attend for a while, as I'm half way through decorating the kitchen! Dave supplied everything required and is a brilliant teacher, giving everyone just the right amount of advice at the right stage. He is taking the pots away after the meeting tonight and firing then glazing them to everyone's requirements. Looked like all were having a great time and they should have some excellent results for me to photograph when I go back tonight. All tools and materials that were provided, per person.

Lowering the height to achieve the right proportions, using a craft knife blade in a measured "stick".

For my effort today it went from to the finished product The day was so good and I think we all learnt so much...as a relativly new person to the art I can now appreciate a little bit more of the big picture...great day out

That's awesome!! Has to be a very nice feeling being able to not only style your tree,but also making the pot!! Glad you guys are finding that feeling out !

That looks like a great workshop. The pots should be real nice when completed.
I've done several pot making demos and workshops at clubs and it's always fun. Earlier ones I also did with previously rolled out leather hard clay and it was quite a bit of work once you go over about ten people. He must have come with quite a bit of leather hard clay ready to go!

I did a workshop this summer with my home club up about an hour north of me....lots of work bringing in all the supplies! No doubt having a the class in a big studio would serve all the participants quite well.

Looks like lots of fun, and great pots too. I would love to see how they turn out!

Thanks folks. Rob, the pots are awy now to be fired and glazed and should come back for me to take more photo's in December.
