New juniper
Hello All,
Lately I went to a known belgian nursery to view the bonsai show and to look for a decent tree for a starter. I choose this juniper virginiana (Juniperus canaertii?) I liked because the shape of the trunk and the foliage. First of all I want to get rid of a part of the long shoots now and open the foliage more. I plan to take the tree to the bonsai club to get started. My question is how should I approach the styling of this tree without destroying it. I don't plan to do some expert techniques like shari or jin, just to open up the foliage, pinch it and wire the branches to get a nice movement in the tree. How far can I go with removing the shoots an pinching now winter is approaching? The pictures are not that great, so I want to try to make some clearer shots tomorrow. Every styling advise is welcome, but remember I am still a beginner.

Howzit Jonas,
I think it's a good idea to take it to your bonsai club and let them work with you on ideas and to help with it's first styling. Then after a year or two come back and post it again for more ideas and/or questions. Good Luck.
A Hui Hou,
