To cold for tropicals? Empty To cold for tropicals?

I live in buffalo NY which i think is zone 5b? Anyway it is gonna be 45 degrees tonight and i have a snow rose, umbrella (schefflera actinopylla) and a bougainvillea, should they come in for good? Tonight is gonna be the coldest night it gonna be in the 50's all the rest of the nights. I usually wouldnt even question it and bring them in, but the bougainvillea is a new purchase and was just repotted and is not doing well. Thank you for any advise.

I think the snow rose will be OK, but the Scheffera ans Bougie should probably come in for the winter. Give the Bougie as much light as possible, the Sch will be less pickey about light.

To cold for tropicals? Empty Too Cold for Tropicals?

All of my tropicals are still outside. Some I would have brought in, but I haven't had time. They will be OK, although their growth will slow down. Shefflera will be fine almost until frost. The bougie probably wants to come in, but it is found in such varying environments that I wouldn't worry too much. Ficus salicaria, the willow leaf, will probably start to defoliate if it gets too cold.
Serissa is a subtropical. It can tolerate light frost, but to be on the safe side, bring it in at first frost warning.
Syracuse is scheduled to go down to 41 (5 C) next weekend. Time to bring in the tropicals & orchids if I'm not too busy.

Well, I usually let the bougie stay outside until the first frost, but if yours isn't happy, I'd bring it inside.

As Billy says -- LOTS of light.

As always thank you all so very much for the help. Your information has helped me in alot of ways. I think i am addicted to this forum, i check for new pics and ideas every day. I am already wishing away the winter to put my trees out and try some new feeding ideas and just to see new growth.
