Thanks Smithy. The size of the flowers and leaves are quite small too.

I used to have a few of them ,i always liked them because of the dainty flowers. I got mine from a big tree up the welsh mountains ,so very hardy.

I collected 2 clumps that had grown out of the main clump last Autumn. We then had the hardest Winter for over 15 years and there was no sign of growth by Springtime. I was just about to launch them both in June, when I noticed tiny little buds on the trunk. Yes, they are hardy. Very Happy

Will,
I think this Magellanica 'alba', should have a slight blush of pink in the flower.

Whatever the name, they're very elegant. A bonsaï bearing such flowers will be lovely.

Off topic :

Fuchsia, from "Fuchs", a German botanist (Fuchs = Fox). Not a foxia either, though if the common pronunciation in French is "fushia", with a "ü" sound like in German, some sound it like "füksia". Hence the bad reputation of the French in some parts of the world I suppose Shocked

Anyway, we're all glad that Eschscholtzia is not suitable for bonsai, I've never met anyone able to say it... Very Happy
