Hi IBC friends.

great small trees are shared lately. i would like to share one of mine.

3" cascade fig. Dsc_0819
top view...leaf size reduction.

3" cascade fig. Dsc_0820

my hand for scale. ht of tree-3 inches

3" cascade fig. Dsc_0821

in my display niche.

background on the tree.- the tree is locally called "is-is" or "ople"- "is-is" in English means to rub on a surface, the leaves of this tree is so rough and tough it is used in some far flung areas here as an alternative to sand paper, yup..thats how tough and rough these leaves are,
i used it too, when i was a kid to "sand paper"/smooth up the surface of my desk in my grade school days.

regards,
jun

Todd,
thanks,

the leaves are odorless...unless, like Will said... used it to cover private parts.

No No No

jun

Will,
thanks.

i guess so Will, after reading the story of Adam and Eve...in the end they said "keep away from 'is-is' leaves folks! its not good for your fashion garment". (just made this up)., unless you want some instant size reduction.

Will,

i heard also...
...these leaves are also the reason why Adam an Eve left the paradise of south east asia and moved to canada for the more friendly leaves of maple.

Very Happy

jun

That area's small enough as it is. Rolling Eyes Sad Could cover up with a Chinese Elm leaf!

Nice tree Jun. That fig is native to Indonesia. We called it ficus ampelas.
