Yamadori - Rhamnus palaestinus

Hi,

six months ago ( begining of spring ) i've collected "Rhamnus palaestinus", it was collected in a good state with a good mass of fiber roots.
as you can see in the attached image, in the original branches there are healty leaves but there is hardly new growing. on the other hand from the lower part of the trunk there is a LOT of new growing.
my goal is to encourage new groth on the original branches...what should I do ?



option A -leave the new growth on the lower trunk, wait for the next spring and then cut it and hope that there will be new growth on the old branches. in this option I fear that the tree will shift all his energy to the new growth and the "old" branches will die.

option B - cut the new growth now ( the next 2 months are good growing months in israel ) and hope that the tree will start new growth on the old branches

please advise from your expirience

Option B looks better for me.

can you please elaborate ? do you advise to cut them now because there is a chance that the old branches will die or because of another reason ?

I don't think than branches would die out, but maybe they will become too passive. If you cut those lower branches, I think that strenght will move higher in the crown.
