There is a saying that reminds me of people: Luiz Galvão and Osamu Hidaka ...

Luciano, Thank you so much for posting the photos from your convention. Really like the Caliandra demo(pot very nice too). The 9th photo shows a Ficus in rectangle pot(Chinese); what is the extremely large trunk(partial view) tree in light brown pot next to it? Could you post photo of that tree?Looks like bonsai interest really growing in Rio. My daughter used to live in Ipanema(right near Logoa Rodrigo Freitas) and I used to visit many times. I assume many of the large trees being collected further northwest of Corcovado/Tijuca forest? Dustin Mann

The plant cited is Caliandra brevipes huge!
The natives were collected in various states of Brazil.
Caliandra Espinosas comes from the Nordeste.
The Tijuca forest is an area of protection.

Friends, This kind of Caliandra shown at the event is a novelty in art.
Here you will find lots of trees of this variety (Fabaeceas).
The most used are: Caliandra brevipes, Caliandra Espinosa, Caliandra depauperate.

Caliandra Brevipes...

Caliandra Espinosa...

Caliandra Depauperata...
We have other varieties.

What did you mean by "the Jew on the table"? I'm sure you weren't the only Jew there, maybe the only one on a table? confused
You have a great many beautiful bonsai, but if I may suggest, your group really needs to work on presentation. You need backdrops, tablecloths, appropriate stands, spacing, and elimination of distractions. I notice the community center itself was crowded, with an orchid show right next door. It is always nice to say, "everybody bring a tree," but in this case you have no choice but to restrict participation. You can restrict it to no more than one tree per person, or if that is still too many, you have to have a committee to only admit the best trees.
Keep up the good work.

The joke about the Jew on the table was because of my position to shoot.
I had to climb the table.
And it was told by another Jew who was in the audience.
Just a joke.
As for all exhibition stands and we're making progress.
And we'll do something more professional future.

I knew it was a joke.
Sometimes I envy people in tropical countries who can develop beautiful bonsai in almost no time.
But you can't grow larches.
There's always something for everyone.

Next year we will make the process of plant selection and use white stands for better plants.
It certainly put the event through live Web link.
