Without the rocks -- literati

With the rocks -- penjing

In either case, nice bonsai.

Agree with Jim.

I personally would have it in a slightly longer shallower dish if I was keeping the rocks in the composition, it it were mine.

thanks Jim. thanks Fiona.
the big rock was not originally part of the composition i used it to anchor the tree and pressed the roots down while the tree settles in the new pot, but not in its current position..then its kinda look ok. should i keep it or remove it? any suggestion?

This Penjing tells a story about the tree. This tree without the rocks could also tell a story. Very nice tree!

Thanks Todd. i guess i will keep the rock then. i want the ground to look more hostile to the plant, rugged and more inhospitable. Smile

My only problem with the rocks is that the smaller ones don't look like they belong with the larger ones. That happens occasionally in nature, but more often, the rocks in a neighborhood will all be in the same "family."

I agree with Fiona about the larger pot.
