Introducing My Bonsai Concept Empty Introducing My Bonsai Concept

Post  Rudi juliant Thu Jul 22, 2010 3:03 am

Hi all....
I would like to introduce about my concept of making bonsai. (crtic, suggestion and opinion are well com please...):
Art is freedom of expression of the imagination that arises from the fundamental ideas and concepts. creation of an artwork is patterned on a reasonable free creativity.
The expression of ideas or concepts underlying me in making bonsai.
For me bonsai is :MINIATURE TREE WITH IMAGINATION FREE EXPRESSION MADE COMPATIBLE WITH THE AESTHETIC ARTS AND HAVE A CLEAR MESSAGE AND DEEP IMPRESSION TO FORM AN ILLUSION.
Bonsai has a certain language for the people could understand, but that language was not a, b, c or 1,2,3. That language would emerge from a two-way communication between the trees and the artist. This is the base of the embodiment of a responsible imagination (no rules). Artists must hear and understand what the will of the tree, and can realize in the form of reasonable imagination free. so that will have a message and create a deep impression in the form of illusion for the viewer.
To clarify my concept, I show one of my bonsai progress as follows:
This Yamadori is Pemphis Acidula, I collected from the Sulawesi island (Borneo) 20 months ago. This tree grows on the rocks, I took also a little reefs around the tree. Then I planted in a pot.

At this stage I began to determine the flow of life in accordance with existing growth points. I take of the dead cambium, so it will clear the path of living and dead wood.

After obtaining a clear path like picture below, now i can catch what the tree would. I began imagining about making an artistic tree in natural freedom that makes sense.

Position and repoting. This is the most important stage where the imagination begins. Determining the position depends strongly on the basic flow of the tree. selection of potted trees should be in accordance with the character that will be created.

Nice Job. Kamu lebih Suka yang mana? (Which one do you prefer?). Now, time and exposure to the elements will contribute to perfect your bonsai design.

Nice job developing the material. And congratulations for taking the time to photograph the progression. That takes a lot of work and foresight.

rudi do you remember we talked about you doing a book built around your drawings and your bonsai? this was over 2 years ago, after we met in bali. I am so happy you are taking this project to reality. put me on the list as someone who wants to buy an autographed copy.

Actualy they all my favorit, becouse each tree got something special for me
(when in the proses). But if you want me to choose it among trees tjat i posted, the one in progress is my favorit. I was "sweating" to decide what the design it should be. Those diviculty and the result make me proud of it.

Post  Russell Coker Fri Jul 23, 2010 3:03 pm

Rudi,

Thanks for sharing. You guys with these Pemphis just kill me. To be able to collect material like this and create such amazing bonsai - well, I just can't imagine.

A couple of questions...

I can't tell from your original post if the stone/coral around the base of this tree was there from the beginning and buried - or was it added as you developed this bonsai? I notice this in many of the Pemphis bonsai shared here. Are they collected with their roots clasping the rock, or are they added to enhance not so good bases and surface roots? My other thought is that since they grow naturally with this rock that maybe it's added just for visual effect.

Thanks in advance. If anyone has pictures of these Pemphis growing in nature and being collected I know that I'm not the only one who'd enjoy seeing more of this amazing species.
