hello ibc members!
a long time i didn t post on your high quality forum...
reparation...
of course my level is low compares to the forum s one...
well..there is a chinese ulmus almost killed by the cold in winter 2005
i let it grow again with one stem

there is my first horrible formation on it

and the next pictures will be in the following years

finally .. the last ones are the composition i made with for the actual bonsai exposition of the monaco bonsai club in forum grimaldi in monaco
the bonsai exposition is included in a big japan art exposition...named"kyoto to tokyo from samurai to manga"
good thematic...so i made this composition
..a tribute to miyazaki 's " princess mononoke and castle in the sky laputa"
it is not at all in the japanese traditional way to present trees...
that s why i d like to get your opinions on it...
i know the tree is young to be exposed...i just start my real bonsaika life...so

Very impressive. Rock complements the tree perfectly. Well done. ThumbsUp What did you apply on the shari? Is it some type of a wood preservative?

Ditto.... exactly what I was thinking. I adore it! It manages to be tremendous fun without seeming campy. LOVE the use of driftwood for the planting of the tree. Very well done indeed.

Kindest regards,

Superb, very poetic.

Well done Cram.

Makes me think of someone who said on a French forum that French bonsaika lacked of imagination : there is at least one with a lot of imagination... clown

i really don t see which guy you re talking about alain Very Happy
...raaa...i just said they re too leashed to a japanese ways to expose trees..they re constricted by this
i respect of course this...
but it is also possible to use the poetry and the imagination of every culture(in this case...the fact is ...its also japanese.. Laughing )
it s just my own feeling maybe...i don t know

well...i don t want to change things alone...it s not my responsability....and i respect the people and their visions
i d just like to give a rightest look on my own way to feel the bonsai trees
and baudoin de lorgeril of monaco bonsai club let me really express myself in this little expo...
how can i miss this chance?

anyway thanks a lot for positives encouragements
it gives the pleasure to search further

ps: nothing on the dead woob only water and sun

Hi Cram,
WOW!! You brought a big smile to my face! Normally I am not a real fan of , for lake of a better word , free style bonsai! That is simply to explain though, normally they are just not well made. I dont like experimenting just for the sake of experimenting! To often it is used to hide a leg of talent! Or as a call for attention!!! But not in your case!!!! What a beautiful fairytale like creation you have made!!!! Like I sad: it made me smile and made me wanted to study your total creation for a long time! It is a stunning composition and shows you have a very inventive open mind! And I hope you will keep on making your kind of Bonsai art! It is very refreshing indeed! But if I may say just one little comment on your composition? I think that your Ulmes and rock could be placed just a little bid more to the right side, so that it sticks out just that bit further over the edge, more out of the box. In that way the amazingly clever counter weight on the left side of the box is holding/pulling your tree in place! Making it more dynamic. I tried it in photoshop and it works!! HIHI!!! Just a thought!!! And that is your own fold... you made me think...because I realy like what you have don!!!frozen ulmus in 2005 ....a new life Addemo12
Bring me some more smiles!!! frozen ulmus in 2005 ....a new life Grote_11

it s true that bonsai is one of the most powerfull way for creation
but it s a long work and time to learn culture shapes wire and caring
maybe ...sometimes...all this work make us a little bit forgot it s first just a cool game...for fun and emotion
like art...
now ...let s work to make the second one better
cheers
