Ian,
they are just old steps given to me for fire wood.
Thought they would be better served for display.

poster's previous post pronounced "premature".
this is better... everybody is out... and posing for the fish-eye
not very good images, but not much time for pictures while the sun is shining...
my little set up is nothing though compared to some of the ones on this thread...
but like Gil Scot Heron said "i'm new here..."

Re: Show us your bench(s)
Hm.. Feeling slightly embarrassed to post my benches here, as they are not much more than some tops on brick with a bunch of dug-out shrubs on them. But well.. Time will improve things
This morning:
Some larger trees with a clear sun-need:
Some more larger trees with a clear sun-need (And a big cement tub drying from yesterdays work on a taxus rootball:

Re: Show us your bench(s)
This is the plan for mine! They will let me put Mame / Shohin at the top at near eye level, and the lower shelf is a compromise between display height / space / watering etc. I need six of them! 2x2 plus short bits of old decking (3x3 at the back just because there is some kicking about!)....I plan to replace the decking in the long run with loads of 1x1 or similar slats.
36" high lower, 59" high upper, 44" wide, 22" deep - funny numbers due to using pre-cut recycled wood.

Re: Show us your bench(s)
i recently re-did my garage area to add more windows (south facing) and more wire shelves to expand the winter tree storage capacity...
after last winter, i am hoping that the extra glass block windows will provide a bit of ambient warmth
(but they have windows too for those warmer than expected days)
had to drag most everything out to make some working room
then the aftermath of clean-up and re-organize
and now i hope it stays cleaned up...
ready for trees
and judging by our weather, not a day too soon

Good gawd man, are you a hoarder....
What is that black and white banner thingy stuck to the bench, is it a zodiac calender or is it remanence from you tie- and- dye days...hihihihihihihihh hi hi goes well with the surf boards....
I must admit my barns also look like that, just a lot more gardening paraphernalia, but my Garage is definitely in orderly chaos... also can fit a car in....hihihihihi
Did you hand in building plans for your alterations. We can not alter any building without handing in plans to the local Municipality for approval. If the house is older that 100 years you may not alter the exterior. Like my house was built in 1857.
But we built houses form brick, you built houses form wood..right? So can you alter it anytime you want?
Love and light

hoarder ?
nah... not really... the mass of mess just made it look worse because i couldnt displace a few things without displacing a LOT of things...
that is a full 3 car garage (and a car and a half deep) and fully 1/3 of it is devoted to a life time of surfing, skateboarding, snowboarding and singing-in-a-band memorabilia and gear that i still use...
the black bandanna is from ASTRONAUTALIS - an exceptional story-teller/artist that i dig

re: the building alterations, we only need permits if installing electrical, plumbing or adding an addition... and here in this part of the country, we have some little pigs that build their house out of sticks, and some little pigs that build their house out of bricks, but none that build their house out of straw
as always, love and light back atcha from across the great divide

Oak trays
Yes I make them from 1/4" x 1 1/2" Oak from Home Depot, cut to size, glue runners, use as Bonsai trays

Re: Show us your bench(s)
Some shots from my bonsai en square....actually L shaped...but around 60 m of this pipes around the perimeter...Still improving it...and need to find something better for the lower shelves...but hopefully soon.
I use concrete poles I make from a 4inch pipe slit lengthwise and used as a mold...and put R6 in the center.
