odd PM notification
Had a message today from IBC telling me I had a new private message. Clicked the link and no new PM. First time that has happened. Any thoughts...Mods or otherwise?

That's someones way of informing you that they are no longer speaking to you. Not very nice I think.

Mike, that has happened to me a couple of times but only when I have opened a PM on IBC from another machine or from my mobile phone. Next time I go into my own computer the red Messages text is still there.

Thanks Fiona, that makes more sense. Wasn't the case though. I know what it was...as my dear ol Mum used to say...
"I blame all those things they put into outer space...or the Government!"
Yeah, rock on Mum...rock on.

Mike, now THAT makes sense - it was the government.
Well you did say it was empty words!

Hi Mike... Well, actually, umm... I wrote a private response to your interest in complementary plants, yesterday, thinking that I was responding to an old bonsai friend (Mike Page) who could help resolve an issue on this topic for me.
As I sent it, I noted the message directed to you Mike Jones. Oddly, when I looked in my mailbox, the message was not in my PM "Sentbox" (& I noted the Sentbox "full"). Looking in the PM "Outbox" folder, I found three unexpected messages (two of them very old) including yours. I deleted the message (not the contents), so I'm surprised you received anything.
No one was being rude to you, but I was thinking of Kora Dalagher responding to Mike Page as I composed the response on complementary plant origins. Kora & Mike impress me with their very generous contributions to our community, so I'm in their debt.
I apologize for the "empty" message which you received.

Re: odd PM notification
Just to clarify, PM's stay in the senders Outbox until someone sees that they have mail and "retrieves" it by reading it. It then moves to your sentbox. Chris, I'm guessing the other two older posts were to someone that hasn't logged in for ages or has dual accounts and is using the other one.

Re: odd PM notification
Thanks, Kev... I was going to PM you re' my 'full' Sentbox, because I was surprised that I didn't get a "Sentbox full" notification requiring deleting posts in the Sentbox before sending a new one. Do you know what happens when the ceiling is broken? I apologize to you for not attending to clearing sent messages before reaching 100% capacity (or more).

Re: odd PM notification
Don't worry about it Chris. My mailboxes are constantly "overflowing"! All that happens is that newer posts push old ones off the bottom of the list, so you end up with the 100 most recent.
