Hi Jim.
No. no excuses! This "Jabulani" Adidas ball reacts just like a beach ball those when you kick it hard! It is something like a bowling ball that those not curls inwards to hit the pocket! It is, especially on higher altitudes, imposible to kick the ball hard with a downward curve. It will just not come down and keeps on wobbling upwards! That's why, in all these first games on high altitude, most hard balls on goal wend high over! If you only look at how many times a goalie kicks the ball directly in to the hands of the other goalie in one game, you will see just how this ball floats! This normally hardly ever happens with a normal ball! So long passes across the pitch are most of the times to long! Corners are a problem as well! And when the ball bounces, it bounces higher than a regular ball would do! So there is a lot of mistiming among the players! So we wont see to much goals from great distance during the first week, on purpose that is! Or beautiful curved free kicks! Especially if you consider that up to two weeks before these championship, nobody had a change to practise with this floater of a ball! Especially the poor goalies have all kinds of trouble with this ball, from camera's placed at the back of the goals you can see in slow motion how a ball shot straight at the goalie, make all kinds of unexpected moved and swirls! They are so afraid to blunder, that the rather punch the ball away, than catch it in there hands, like they normally would do!
So to make a long story short.....THE BALL SUCKS BIG TIME!
But not as mutch as those deffening "VUVUZELA" horns that they keep on blowing!
Cheers,

Slightly surprised to see Giovanni Von Bronchorst skipping the Netherlands.

Might as well have picked Pierre " I don't want to play with you any more so I'm taking my ball home" van Hooijdonk as well.

Hi Tim,

Hi Hans,

yes Van not Von - that's German. Embarassed I got the rest right though.

Very Happy

Reinforces my point that just because English fans and papers don't rate a player (his spell at Arsenal was very patchy and injury ridden) doesn't mean they won't do well elsewhere and they get forgotten.

See my earlier post re Forlan for instance

Laughed out of Man Utd but top of every other Premier League teams shopping list atm after a stunning season at Athletico Madrid.

Robinho was the star for Brazil tonite but seriously underperformed for Man City all season and has been loaned back to a Brazilian team.

Good luck to the Dutch - probably overdue for a World Cup

Ah! Up there with the big boys then! Wink Mad

For the benefit of the non-Scottish/football hating reader, that was an ironic dig at the miserable excuse for a game that is Scottish football, as indeed most of the Scottish football supporters will admit it is. Unless they happen to be an Old Firm (Rangers and Celtic) fan and therefore wouldn't recognise irony if it bit them on the Arsenal.

I thought that the most threatening England looked in the US game was when Gerrard was playing a more advanced role. I think he's a bit wasted out on the left. But, that means dropping either Lampard or Barry... I think Barry offers something different, and he and Gerrard have shown to have an effective partnership in the past. Joe Cole on the left, Gerrard and Barry in the middle.

At least they didn't have the winning goal called back for a non-existent foul....

I would feel a lot more comfortable if our strikers would score. It'll be interesting to see who plays up front on Tuesday with Findley on his second yellow. I'm not convinced with Altidore. I think he's ok, but his finishing seems poor. If he could just put the ball away like a young Michael Owen (but I guess we could say that for just about any striker at the World Cup barring Higuian).

Hi everybody,
have you seen the "DUTCH BAVARIA GIRLS" during the HOLLAND- DENMARK game?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxDrll4n2SE&feature=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yg1N4BjEus
These orange "BAVARIA" dresses were made by this Dutch beer brewery "BAVARIA" especially for this world cup! The trip for these girls were paid for by "BAVARIA" as a stunt! They went into the stadium covered in DENMARK shirts and than during the game they stript to reveal those sexy orange mini skirts! There is no brand name or logo on the dresses, but still the FIFA in all its wisdom gave orders to arrest those 22 girls during that game, because of there sponsor commitments to BUDWISER beer. They were held for hours and had to be bailed out. but there passports were kept. They have to appear in court in a few weeks and face a conviction up to 6 mounts!
They could not have made the "BAVARIA" company any happier, the amount off free advertising all over the world is priceless! Poor "BAVARIA GIRLS", is there no Justice in this world!
For the love of mankind, I say, no SHOUT: FREE THE "BAVARIA GIRLS" !!!!

OH! Did I mentioned that we won again and are all ready trough to the 8Th finals! And we are not even playing that good yet!
Cheers,
Hans.
