Lodgepole pine, Pinus contorta, is not a native of Chile. Did you collect it in the US, or is this a different species?

Lodgepole pine was introduced to Chile for forestry purposes. http://www.patagoniatimes.cl/content/view/720/102/

Lodgepole, Monterey, and several of the Pinon (I think) pines have been widely transplanted into the southern hemisphere -- timber or paper mill fodder, I suppose.

There are no pines native to the southern hemisphere.

I thought that might be the case. The Araucariaceae and Podocarpaceae fill the niche to some extent. I hope our pines are not damaging the native vegetation.

Super transformation. Don´t know if I can do such a nice desing. Is there a technic to curve the trunk the way you are recommending?

Here´s another pic with the pine in my hand

Jim is right. Now isn't a problem bucause all pines are controled. I found a little pines wood where a recollected my pines.

Contortas in Chile grows very fast. I collected them and poted for 1 year and than in the ground for 2 more years. August is a very good time to get some "home yamadoris" Very Happy

Here some pics.
