I like how you are constantly thinking out side the box with your work .It is very innovative and entertaining and informitive .On this particular compisition you took somthing in the trditional sense that could bee seen as sub par and made it work wonderfully. I like how you hid the crossing of the trees in the middle as to not confuse the eye when following the line from nebari to apex.

John - Nice job. Like all your posts, this is good information and well presented. I really don't understand why your work generally generates so little response in this forum, but I'm certain it has nothing to do with quality or content. Maybe you should change your avatar and post under a different name?

Hey AJ, Glad to see you back here. I am a little confused by the lack of responses as well, but obviously not disheartened Cool

Surely the lack of response must be because the trees and the presentation are all so perfect and beyond compare that not a soul as any idea how to improve either Very Happy Very Happy

As to your solution, I am afraid I could change my name and my avatar but my charming accent and the way I say "uh" about every 10 seconds would never go away Laughing Laughing

Truth of the matter is I make the videos because I enjoy doing so...it adds to the experience for me personally and creates a record of my work (for whatever that is worth). I am not working on world class material, or am I sharing any secrets, and my video production leaves much to be desired but I enjoy making and sharing them.

Early on, I must admit that it was frustrating that I got so little feedback on this forum. I actually tried to compare the percentage of comments to views of other posts and in an unscientific way found that my posts are pretty much right in line with about 90% of all the posts made here. Regardless of what happens here, my youtube channel allows me to see that my videos are watched (and commented on) by people from every corner of the globe...even in Japan:)...and that makes a boy from the country feel pretty good.

So...thanks for your thoughts and support!!!

That's usually it for me. I find nothing more useless (except, I suppose, to the ego) than an endless series of "great tree" posts. There usually are enough of those that I don't feel I need to add mine.

What I like on the infrequent occasions that I post a picture is, a "Nice tree . . . BUT . . ." kind of post, or even "Lousy tree but you can make it better by . . ." Or at least some kind of intelligent comment about WHY it is a "nice tree. Or not." Then, I hope people understand if I don't follow all of their suggestions.

I thoroughly enjoy your video presentations, but since I haven't the tech knowledge (or the real interest) in doing anything like it. I just enjoy them for themselves. They're much more useful to me than that series of vids done some time ago by that fellah in Australia (IMO, of course) since I don't give much of a hoot about Japanese "Masters."

I guess I'd better copy that last paragraph and paste it in over and over again????

tongue tongue tongue tongue tongue ThumbsUp

Hi John. Another great video and I like the transformation indeed.

If the pot is too big, it is only slightly so, and surely the filling out of the foliage will reduce that appearance anyway. I wondered at first if you could have raised the tree slightly more in the pot, but then I decided that that might have given it a football-like shape. The only other thing I'd have considered is to have shifted the tree a tiny bit more to the right in the pot. I'm seeing too much of a high "lip" at that side of the pot and a minor shift would have reduced that. But again, I believe that will be hidden in the not too distant future when the tree fills out.

But all that is merely nit-picky. It is a marvellous transformation and a highly useful, educational and informative video aid for the rest of us.

Note to Santa: Please can Fiona have a video camera for Christmas?

I'm just re-reading my post to make sure it ticks all the boxes of Jim's "Good Post" criteria that appeared simultaneously with my offering. Very Happy Wink

I'm pulling your leg a bit unfairly here, Jim. You do make a valid point.

thank you Jim and Fiona!!

Fiona...it is interesting that I played with both of your suggestions...raising the tree and moving it to the right. I agree with you completely that once the tree fills in a little I think both issues will disappear.

Thanks for your comments!

Cool Vid John, I enjoyed it. It had a nice pace to it and I liked the open dialogue between your brain and the camera:) The tree came out great too. Thanks for sharing your thought and skill.

Regards,
Joe
