Thanks Alex. I didn't see any Scotties in your Garden.....or is that something else you accidently forgot to photograph on purpose, to try and make me feel sorry for you and the lack of material and then give you my big Yew?
What is an MO pot?

Beautiful tree Will. We could use a large shipping container of these beautiful collected Scots pines here in the US.

Hi Will,

Re: pot choice, I'm not good at virts so won't try but my thoughts would be as follows:

I think if you went with either view a studded drum type pot might be suitable, unglazed. I think that John Pitt or Alan Harriman makes some nice pots that might be suitable.

May be something like this by Alan:

Maybe someone with more photoshop skill than me could virtulise something?

Interesting comments regarding the way you have reduced water during the summer to reduce the needle length, i will have to consier trying this on my own scots pine.

Jonny.

Great work on a beautiful tree. Without having the benefit of seeing the tree in person, to me, the movement in img_0318 is more dynamic than in img_317.

Hello Mike. The Pines collected from Ben Aigan are considered to be the true native Scots that once covered Scotland. There are still large areas of Caledonian forest and much of this is now fiercely protected. Ben Aigan was much the same until, about 80 years ago, the forest caught fire. As well as the trees, the thick layer of peat and pine needles also burned away. Seedlings then sprouted but due to the very thin soil over rock, grew very slowly. These trees were due to be cut down to make good Heather habitat for Grouse shooting. I am lucky enough to have three good ones.

hi Will
the tree is really nice and deserves a nice pot to accompany it
how about a shallow round pot
slightly rough finish flared out at the top
nice earth colour
i reckon you should make one yourself!

What a gorgeous tree, Will. But then it's gotta be good since you named it after your dad.

Hope you're well.

Will,
Sweet tree! He has "it"!! What a great a great way to honor your Dad.
Like Ted, my roots trace back to the Inverness area. Grand mother said it was the most beautiful
place of all.
