Fusarium and Acer buergerianum
Hello Al. Is fusarium where sections of trunk and branches go black and die back. I know of no cure but I have seen trees that show old damage and have got over it. Maybe if the tree is strong and healthy, it might have the ability to overcome this problem. I am guessing though.

I suspect that this is Verticillium Wilt. If it is, the only cure is to cut way back below the infection. The heartwood must be clear of any brown discolouration.

verticillium or fusarium wilt
Why would you feed heavily with nitrogen to combat an infection? It seems counter intuitive. I would like Nina's opinion.

If I recall rightly (and these old brain cells may fail me) that IS Nina's advice. It is/was given without much hope, but it doesn "fight" the infection as much as stave it off -- maybe. The Ortho Problem Solver gives similar advice as did my Master Gardener teachers.
But when you get right down to it, there IS no cure.

Well, thanks everybody for the answers.
I am starting to hesitate about the exactly fungus, as I can see there is no problem with the wood and there is no infection in the trunk but all the springs, for about 4 years the tree have all the leaves with the borders black, when the heat rises in summer and made a partial defoliation, the new leaves are better. So I suposse is a root funghi but I don´t know, but I suposse Fusarium would have killed the tree or damaged the trunk.
Where I live, Fungical diseases are very common, humidity and rain are very usual all the year, but my fear it´s a complete infection of all may colection.
