I always felt this Japanese shallow oval pot was a bit too small for this massive trunked Willow Leaf Ficus. So yesterday I repotted into a bigger glazed Chinese pot. What do you think?

Before. This is actually the back of the tree. I forgot to turn it around for the photo. Embarassed

Trident ficus is Nerifolia???

Thank you so much.

Trident Ficus is my name for this tree. I can't grow trident maples in my climate so I use Willow Leaf Ficus to accomplish the same design goals as one would do with a trident maple. Also this tree happens to be triple trunk - hence the trident! Wink Very Happy

Very nice tree, great improvement on the pot too.

I would consider tweaking the planting angle. Right now it looks a bit unbalanced in my humble opinion.

Just a couple degrees to the left, as shown below. (keep the pot level though Smile - too lazy to do a proper virt).

looks way better and more balanced in that pot the small one was way too small(or the tree was getting way to big). I agree the color of the new pot is great for this tree.

Rob,
Looking good in the new pot. Move it a bit to the left?

Rob,

Try Acer Buergeranium var. Ningpoense. It should grow well for you.

Kind Regards,

Jose Luis

Rob,

Try www.forestfarm.com . They should have it. It tolerates zones 6-10, and although i do not live in any of these, it is equally happy in my yard.

Kind regards,

Jose Luis

Rob,

Very nice tree!

The willow leaf ficus is quite a slow grower here in the Philippines.
