Welcome to the forum Juan Pablo. I spent a couple of weeks in nearby Guayaquil many years ago, with a short trip to Quito. A country with a great variety of landscapes! I love prunus species too!

Bonsai from the Andes in South America Ecuador Empty Bonsai from the Andes in South America Ecuador Part 2

Post  BonsaiAndino Sat Apr 10, 2010 12:20 am

For three years I started in the world of bonsai. What I have done at this time is to recover yamadoris native of the Andes. Just last year I started to model some yamadoris. This is one of about 150 years, Ilex (ACEBO), was recovered in 2006, growing beside a road in the field. It is also my first tree that model. I hope you have a good future. I'm not that good photographer to say. Ja ja ja ¡¡¡¡¡¡

Bonsai from the Andes in South America Ecuador Empty TREES, SCULPTURE AND BONSAI

Post  BonsaiAndino Sun Apr 11, 2010 11:24 pm

I will share with you the following opinion that reflects my philosophy of bonsai, I hope your comments.

Personally, bonsai immersed me in a state of total communion with nature, is a mystical feeling I would say. It is also a road and not an end, so that it lives every day intensely. As art, the practice of bonsai has undergone an evolution over many years the fruit of new techniques and new artists, I reiterate I am novice in this, but I think we should model that resemble trees trees and trees that look like bonsai and above all try to mimic the characteristics of their counterparts in nature. Imagine for a moment a willow branches grow upright or cotoneaster moyogui style in the personal in nature would never have seen them growing well. There are many stereotypes about is to get us out of the mind, but of course as there are fashions in everything. But I'm not a purist and seen modeled as if they were deciduous conifers and other aberrations and back again, even trees that has nothing to trees and the most remote or look like their brothers who grow up in nature. As I believe art is good, because then we could say that these plants would become a kind of sculpture show that if the great skill of its creators, I am neither for nor against, or say it is neither good nor bad , personally I prefer trees that look like real trees and are the only view that when you generate respect and will only transmit this feeling of knowing you are standing in front of a real tree. The following examples illustrate my point of view.

This is a growing cotoneaster in nature:

These are the stereotypical images of bonsai cotoneaster, ordinary and boring

This is a bonsai cotonesater has some decades, is owned by the Japanese master Isamu Murata, in nurseries in Omiya Kiukaen working only with scissors, pruning and pinched Never use the fence or other techniques, this is the right thing.

I think the pictures say it all:

Big tree small pot,...and living in a world i would love to explore....
seniores de la bonsai i mucho mas Disfrutar la vida....y los bonsais.....Big time!

Nice material,....in beautiful surroundings!

@ meastro andino

It is nice thinking u share here,..
As for me,.....sculptural design lays within the growing habit of the tree.
You talk about species witch are locally here in Europe.
I would reckon other species are available as seen!

As in statements,....bonsai as sculptural art,.....i would say no.
Sculptural art is made of dead material,....bonsai rather is like poetry given borders to evolve,....like i can say "bite me" up here.....it lives on!
Poetry is tolerance in words to view or read, and keeps on going!
It grows and is,....a sculpture off words given full sentence thriving on language and made by tolerated minds made by society!
For me bonsai,....is bending witch is given words as in verbs, verbs as in sentences that makes language,....and any one has its own.
Just the interaction between given (the tree) and spoken word in a pot.
And yes that evolves and grows!

my humble opinion in bad English!

maestro,.....live the dream as i do,....and thanks for these kind words! in bonsai wonder land.

In no way consider myself a "maestro", I have very little time doing bonsai, surely there are friends who have much more experience. This is my humble point of view: do trees that look like trees, that's all. I greatly respect the view of others.
