Many of time I have been fooled with the incredibly irresistible suckers of a Beech. But, on Sunday Austin found this gem. It was growing under a large rock over hang. It's roots were abundant and full of tiny feeders due to the soil made up of grit, sediment, and moss. He was generous and allowed me to have it. It almost lifted off the rocks after I removed the top soil. I think I lost very little.
