yamadori larch

Post  harry dovey on Mon Mar 15, 2010 6:27 pm

I recently got this larch from a friend. I paid £65 for it. It has a trunk of three inches and a height of 30 inches. I have removed the lower branches to create a future literati.

I forgot to take a photo before I worked on it but here it is as it is now.

Hello Harry. I think the trunk is a little straight to be thinking literati. How about reducing the height by a third and train up a new leader. It could do with some more taper.

I think I will leave it for a year. It has only been in the tray since autumn even though it had loads of root. I dont have a lot of experience with larch so I might just do that will

Than it isn't even for sure it will survive. To be sure just leave it now as it is till next year.

Hi Harry,

Its a nice tree. I bought one on Sunday from Bonsai Boot Sale in Birmingham. about same side and thickness. I paid £15.

Just hope it survives. Was dug up at 4 am in the morning.

good luck my friend.

Cheers,

Faisal
