Repotted Rock Planting
The tree is a Kingsville boxwood thats been planted in this rock for about 12 or so years.
The original planting involved drilling the rock top to bottom with 2.5 inch core drill. The Kingsville was bare rooted, and the roots inserted in the rock. The rock was set in a tray of soil, then soil was worked into the core hole of the rock. After all these years, the roots are firmly locked in the rock, and spread out into the pot.
Repotting involved lifting the rock from the last pot, trimming the roots, and placing in the new pot. Height including the Mike Hagedorn pot is about 15 inches.
