Re: Some pots for the new gallery
Dale. Just read those shipping horror stories. You are so talented and put a lot passion into your craft. Makes me want to just sucker punch/leg kick out those idiots from UPS that act like 'oh well you got insurance'. Sorry..there's one reason I went on meds. Good thing I can one day just pick up pot from your house. I tried to email you tree photo about pot but would not send on prodigy thing from Wild Thing website. Mine is figmann@comcast.net It will work out one day. Your glazes blow me away Dustin Mann

Dale,
When UPS does the packing they cover the full value don't they? I know a potter who lost a couple grand in a shipping disaster FROM a gallery. He got ZERO from the shipping company (not ups or usps), and ZERO from the gallery. I hope all works out for you.

I was a vendor at the Midwest Bonsai Society show at the Chicago Botanical Gardens last weekend August 19-21, 2011.
Here are a couple shots of my booth.
I also did a workshop using shohin dwarf 'Morris Midget' boxwoods, and I did a demo showing most of the popular tools used for power wood carving on bonsai using Dremel-type carvers, die grinders and right-angle grinders.
It was beautiful weather the entire time....except for a few hours on Saturday

Hey Dale
Thats a very nice display and sales area you had there. I'll bet that was a great show. I really like the texture and red accents on some of your pots. It really draws your eye to the begining of the story.

A short story I did that Paul Stokes was kind enough to post on his new website:

Hi Dale
I really like those pots with the splash of red glaze, kind of brings to mind the blood, sweat and tears that it takes to make it as a bonsai potter !!!
Cheers

Thanks vic, that is one of my new 'things', I do it on quite a few of my bunjin/literati pots and always ask if wanted when doing commissions. Sometimes they say 'sure' and sometimes not. On speculation pots though it is common along with the designs in the bottoms.

The 2nd Time Is The Charm
I guess the 2nd time is the charm!
I made this unglazed oval pot with Turtles for the Asheville, North Carolina Arboretum Bonsai collection and this time I DELIVERED it by hand vs. shipping. It was a bit smaller than the last one I made that had such a terrible fate. I also did not use the light green ash glaze on the surface of this one.
It was donated to to the Arboretum and the bonsai collection.
I didn't have much time after the firing to get photos before I left for the show. I hope these quick shots of both sides and the top will suffice.

Re: Some pots for the new gallery
Here is another photo essay of mine that Paul Stokes posted to his website http://ofbonsai.org
It is a story of work I did on a large old Kurume azalea that I collected about 11+ years ago now.
I hope you enjoy it.
