Tanuki the deadwood dragon?
On a recent ramble with Mr T, Terry amd Matt, I collected this lovely piece of deadwood to use in a tanuki. My wife has today seen the image of a traditional Chinese/Japanese dragon in it. What do you think?
I'm not sure whether to use this image within a tanuki or to keep the wood as a display piece. Again, what do you think?
Deadwood dragon
Traditional Chinese dragon
Considering I've spent much of my life around tattoos and tattooing, not to mention having a particular interest in Eastern cultures and the wood being in my office which is filled with images of dragon tattoos, I can't believe I didn't see this image myself. A case of not seeing the deadwood for the trees, perhaps?
The first pic has lost about a 1/4 of its width, but trust me, it has a spur which represent the hind leg, and tails of nicely to represent, well, the tail!

Actually I saw the same section as JLudlam but saw it as a tiger on a branch.
Think you're right, Smithy. This could more than make up for people not being so able to see shapes in the flames of open fires any more.

Why is there a turtle humping my dragon?
I think you may be on to something there! Kev, can we start a new forum please?
Sorry, JL. The dragon is actually the other way round. Look at the black and white pic below the wood for long enough and you'll see a similar shape developing.
@ Fiona. A tiger? Where? Get your crayons out and show me.

I saw the dragon the other way around.
The tiger is in the same place as the turtle but slumped over the branch.

Sounds like a new marshal arts movies "Wooden Dragon, Humping Turtle". I can't see it as an action thriller, but I never considered myself much of a movie critic!

Sorry HR. In the time-honoured fashion of kids the world over, I got my crayons stuck up my nose in 1965 and they've never re-emerged.Harleyrider wrote: Fiona. A tiger? Where? Get your crayons out and show me.

Will, it was a full moon the other night - it's only to be expected.
I saw either a bunny rabbit or a woodpecker in Eaton's bit of wood, depending on which way you looked at it.
Hey this is fun!!

If you look back and forth to your avatar and the pic they start blending into one.

I dont know about a dragon but the first one does remind me of an otter, the second on the other hand is what us backwoods Floridans would call a black-matter-swabertail, or in your case one of the mossy species. Hate it when you go fishing and get one of those suckers on a hook

First one - otter definitely.
I think the second one is Dino from The Flintstones.
Still with us, Will?
