Corylus avellana 'contorta'

Post  Smithy on Sat Feb 27, 2010 5:28 pm

I just dug this up this afternoon from my mother in laws garden. The leaves are very big on it but it makes such a good winter show and the trunk was pretty good i thought i would keep it. I will reduce the lump on the top left later.

Thats a massive trunk Smithy. I've seen some bonsai with quite big leaves. And they look beautiful.
I'm sure your will make a nice bonsai too.

Good luck my friend.

Nice one Smithy. As you say, it will make a superb winter image with the catkins and subtle red flowers. Very Happy
