Music and Bonsai
I'm never more relaxed that when I'm sat in my shed, at my bench working on a tree. I would normally listen to Pink Floyd ( Yes I'm a Floydie just like Lee Kennedy ..Though I don't think he will like this choice ). It made me wonder what sort of music other Bonsai enthusiasts like to listen to. I have recently come a cross a piece of music so relaxing it was just made for Bonsai. Classical buffs will know this one. It's called
Canteloube - chants' d'Auvergne : Bailero. sung by Maria Bayo. Here's a link with beautiful landscape images..Hope you enjoy

Anybody care to share there Best Bonsai music ?.... Lets see what you like to listen to.

Personally, I prefer silence when I'm with my trees. I work in a very noisy envoironment and value my rare moments of peace.
Besides, how can you listen to your trees with music blaring out?

Re: Music and Bonsai
I listen to whatever captures the mood when I'm working with my trees. All of the suggestions already mentioned above have featured on more than one occasion, including Steve's silence.
Yesterday I went native and had Karen Matheson and Ishbel Macaskill gently singing in the background, with occasional forays into Phil and Aly. Today as I worked, I listened to Joe Hisaishi's soundtrack for the movie Kikujira. Tomorrow it could just as easily be the Rolling Stones or David Bowie.
Anyway Bob. Your starter for ten: what iconic UK ad in the 70s featured your music choice?

Ah Kev! The memories are flooding back! Your choices are the soundtrack of my university years!
So I wasn't the only person (apart from my mate Neil) who listened to Camembert Electrique!

Re: Music and Bonsai
For me its not a particular style, mood or tempo. It's more about if i find the music creative and inspiring. i am attracted when musicians have masterd their instuments and get it on hum dingin! Having said that, I do sometimes match music to a particular tree. I listen to stuff like Steve Kindler to Pat Metheny. or John Meyer to The Fray. also John Coltrane to John Schofield.

WOW ! Kev...What a fantastic list..There are names on there I forgot I knew..Saw lots of them at the Free Trade Hall..Went straight into the loft to checkout all my old Vinyl collection. Wishbone Ash...Steve Hillage..Roger Chapman and Family...all great stuff .........I also agree with H/R that sometimes silence is enough !!

Re: Music and Bonsai
No Tony that was the practice event for the tour. They went ahead with two complete gigs in March 72. Probably the second most memorable gig I ever attended.
The other was memorable for less musical reasons. After the Black Sabbath gig at the Stadium in Liverpool on January 31st 1972 (aged 17) I got work as a roadie and missed the last bus home. I walked 25 miles in jeans, a T shirt and denim jacket in freezing fog. Got picked up by plod for wandering through the centre of Chester at 3 in the morning and told that I'd made it this far, so I could make it all the way home. I got in just before my parents awoke and realised I'd been out all night.

Re: Music and Bonsai
Usually, if I'm listening to music while tendng my trees, it would be from the 60's, 70's and 80's. Most of the time I listen to the wind blow (some here might think I listen to the wind blow between my ears .)
However, if I have the the IPOD on, it would most likely be the angelic voices of Celtic Woman.
I have been know to rock out with some jumping bagpipe music, but then I tend to overprune.
If I really want to listen to the music by the boys that the girls parents said to stay away from, because they were a bad influence...
(NO not Elvis!)
I listen to Johann Sebastian Bach or Richard Wagner (I prefer the Ring of the Nibelung)!
