Plus another Brazilian Rain Tree, it was collected the 4 years. It was a leafy tree, and it would go to be knocked down for the construction of a square!
It has much thing to be made!

Thanks for posting. Your daughter(?) is lovely.

Luciano, if convenient, would you post some pics of mature, full sized Raintrees in your area which show their typical growth habit?

Mine two Babies... Empty Rain trees

Post  Geof Sat Feb 14, 2009 5:29 pm

Hi Luciano,
Wow those Rain trees are cool! I find here where I live in the Northeast US people tend to style tropical material with a single apex. This is not what they do in nature as you have shown. Also trees closer to the equator get wider rather than taller. I wish more people would style their tropicals this way.
My brother lives in Barra da Tijuca, Rio. You're lucky to get such nice large material to work with and the fact you have a long growing season. I have a sunroom for my tropicals for winter and put them outside in the summer.
Great posts!
Geof

To put in dunes it assumes more radical forms, due the e region the climate.
In the Barra da Tijuca, hundreds of them, planted exist in seedbeds and squares.

Mine two Babies... Empty Plants...

Post  luciano benyakob Sat Feb 14, 2009 6:03 pm

Hi Jhon, we have 3 varieties of this plant Here! The first photo is of the same Tortum, that has trunk twisted and full of thorns.
We call Male!
Of the second photo, it does not have thorns and it has budding very fast and precociously.
We call Female!
E one third species that is between the two first ones, has few thorns and slowest.
North-eastern of the country still we have the Dumoso variety!

Pretty tree, natural and very beautiful!
Here a confusion of styles exists, that confuses in them.
Seeing your plant, I see the obvious one, to follow to the nature.

After to have access there Ibc., in this space and the old one.
I started to see as it is worked by the staff of the South of the USA., and for artist of Indonesia.
I started to see the plant with other eyes. A lesson in as to make the plant, possible more natural way.
As it is in the nature. In certain places, some factors leave it with twisted branches, to put in places where it grow as street tree.
It assumes the form that your tree presents.
A leafy tree!
We have that to stop to work all established one in rules of conifers.

The pictures of raintrees in their natural environment were indeed interesting, thanks for sharing.

John, That is a very nice Raintree. Is it true that you could remove the thorns?

I have read posts from others over the years regarding removing the thorns. I have not done so, the thorns are really not a problem and lend a certain 'charm' to the tree! Smile
