Are you referring to the tool handle or the driftwood?

What type of tool is it?

Good question. The tool is a mallet for a wood chisel. This root system was added to an existing tanuki I had. I will take a picture of the complete form, I didn't say tree...lol's. The trunk is mahogany, the roots are ironwood and the foliage is Juniper parsonii. It is a little mixed up but I didn't get arrested collecting it either.

G'day Q...

I'm familiar with Arizona's Ironwood, but there are several more. Which one are you showing?
