I recently put up some info on additional past bonsai shows at http://www.phoenixbonsai.com/Conventions.html +.

What I need from my fellow IBCers (and others) are details that are currently missing here -– and similar information for other “major” symposia and displays which are not listed yet, especially those in Europe and Asia. Can anyone help me? Conventions, etc. that have had more than one occurrence and (eventually) had at least one international teacher lecture/demo at.

BTW, I've started drafting a similar page for the various awards, such as Ben Oki, Crespi, Noelanders – with links to Tony's wonderful videos here, of course – Japanese Prime Minister's, etc.

Thank-you!

Wow that is a lot of work! Good on ya.

I never quite understood historians and librarians but grateful we have them.

I guess we're kind of like collectors, but instead of cards, cars or the more common palpable treasures we gather information. The quest is to fill in the gaps where it is missing.

Assembling all of this has opened my eyes to the range involved in our interest and the amount of traveling some of our teachers have done.

In grade school in the 1960s I started becoming my family's historian/genealogist. I also remember back then compiling [relatively small] databases on large ledger sheets with details of the stars in the heavens or the types of plants and animals on earth -- long before Excel or Access were even a bit in someone's eye. Along the way I've assembled partial data on a range of subjects from earthquakes to the plants we eat. I guess it's my destiny.

I'm glad you can appreciate the results.

Uh, long shot: who sent me an e-mail within the last hour besides Kevin Bailey about this topic? I've been getting distracted here at my daughter's apartment and I think I accidentally deleted an unread e-mail...
