Infektions by gymnosporangium sabinae by Juniperui

Does somebody have experiences in the fight against the fungus - Gymnosporangium sabinae - infekting especially Juniperusspezies? If the fungus has struck a Juniperus... what one can do successfully against it?

hey, you need to use some solution that contains coper on it. where are the fungus? trunk? leaves? roots?

That's one of the many fungi related to cedar apple rust. None of them do much (if any) real damage to juniper, but can do considerable damage to plants in the rose family -- depending on the species of fungus. The alternative host for this one appears to be plants in the Pyrus genus. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gymnosporangium

A fungicide can be used to control these on the alternate host (plants in Rose family). Nothing much can be done when the gooey orange balls appear on junipers, other than removal.

If you have this one -- and I'm not sure how you could have ID'd it so specifically; they're all so similar -- look around for pear trees. Otherwise, check for roses, applies, hawthorns, cotoneaster, quince, etc. which are hosts for other, closely related, species.
