Super mini on mountain landscaping

This landscaping is 110cm long, 40 cm across, with water fall and including five Wrightia super mini trees are grown very well on it. look like the tree on the slopes in fact outside:

I'm sure I've asked you this before but I can't find the post: what type of stone is this?

And what kind of environment would one have to live near to find something like that? I live in the mountains, and I've never seen any stones like these. How would these have been formed?

We need a better geologist than I am to tell us.

I do not know the exact name of stone, but in my country called "Snow Flowers"

I think this is limestone, but it very much harder than limestone

Metamorphic rock, more than likely. The layers of a sedimentary rock being heated squashed and moved around under pressure over eons.

Regarding the landscape, it looks very like the karst mountains of south west China. Some good shots here http://www.imaginature.nl/pages/karst%20mountains.html

If I had to guess, I'd say it was a quartzite of some sort or a combination of quartzite (from sandstone) and marble (from limestone/calcite).

It does resemble that Chinese landscape we all like to look at (and, for my part, would like to have seen in person), but just because the macro landscape looks like that doesn't mean that you'll find smaller rocks that resemble it on a micro scale.

Ah, I misunderstood you Jim. I see what you mean. Where to locate rocks that have worn like this? I would guess in a fast flowing river bed, mountain stream etc. I have seen some rocks sculpted by water like this, but rarely collectable.

Well, I have zillions of mountain streams around here (and all of them running over their banks right now) but all we get is stream-sculpted grainy granite. Nothing as hard as these. Guess our mountains are just too old (as mountains go).
