I like it. Much improved over what you started with. The only thing that bothers me is the trunks above and below the bend are to close to parallel and look artificial. Maybe raising the top part of the tree just a little bit might help. This might just be me though or the tape might be distracting me. Looks good so far.

Can't say that I love the result but I certainly admire the technique! Very bold manipulation of the trunk and the treatment of the branches is good too. I have trouble putting the whole image together however with the very thick, straight lower trunk and the sharp bends and thin wood just a little ways up. But I am not the most visionary guy out here and I look forward to seeing what you see when the tree has progressed a little more. Do you have any additional work planned for the trunk?

He may well have some problems keeping part of the top alive. At any rate, I'm sure he's not done with this yet.

Great transformation from a very uninteresting piece of material. How about extending the shari down further maybe?

Thank you all for reply.
re: bigsteve - Larch is high 38 cm
re: Will and Velodog2 - Next year only grow. In the future I want to incorporate more strain shari and uro.
re: Jim - Removed was just rotten wood. Bending any indication of damage. Remained all of what the plant grew. In terms of physiology should be all right. Smile

Good solution. I like it.
But I would just turn the top a bit to the roght, so it will be above the base.

Post  littleart-fx Wed Dec 16, 2009 8:29 pm

At first one question, was it nessecery to cut out all that wood?

Seccond, you did good but is the way you present the tree the main stage, this ment tapper form and bend?

A brilliant solution to a very un promising piece of material. This shows the advantage to having a studied eye and a sense of art for those who would claim that bonsai is not an art.

Hi Vance. Thank you very much for the positive response. Yes, I think it is necessary to shaping bonsai as an art.

Hi all friends , I wish you all the beautiful Christmas holidays. santa
