Timing with juniper style pruning Empty Timing with juniper style pruning

Hey guys, I'm new to the art of bonsai and have read A LOT of information, however i'm still unsure of timing regarding style pruning and repotting of my juniper procumbens "bonsai". I'm getting late fall for major style pruning and then a repotting the following early spring? Is this correct? Also, will major style pruning in the late fall and repotting in spring be too much stress for my tree? Thanks Smile

Have actually done hundreds of Nanas, in all seasons, with kids to adults, for over twenty years and can say this is the most forgiving of all trees.

For this tree only... Do any thing in any season with great recovery. Now go !

ps. unless its weak ThumbsUp

Well, anyone who has done "hundreds" may be able to repot whenever, but I don't think a beginner outghta try it. Please remember who we're talking to when you answer a question.

Styling can be done pretty much any time, but repot in early spring.

thanks a lot you guys for the help, but one thing i forgot to mention is i live in georgia and during the summer the heat is anywhere from 90 to 110 nearly EVERY day, what can i do for this as far as the "nana"? also, i have a cedar yamadori waiting for a repotting next spring, what can i do for both it and the nana during this intense heat? thanks Very Happy

Junipers are tough. Keep it outside all the time. Morning sun and afternoon shade will be best -- especially next year after the repot. Watch your watering. They prefer dry feet, but don't want to be 100% dry. In August a morning and evening drink will probably be helpful, but check the soil first!
