Or at least I think it's sick, or dying. Was given this tree in hopes to bring it back to life so looking for some assistance on classifying what kind of tree it is, and what I can do to make it happy and healthy. ANY and all help would be appreciated. The booklet that came with it was vague.

The leaves and limbs seem very brittle and dry and all I have done is water it. Only thing I DO know, is it's an outside Bonsai, but have it in a window for the moment.

Thank you in advance for your help.

That's not sick it is a very sick Azalea. Has it been very dry? Has it been insid? If it has then it must be placed outside in a shady spot. I would cut any dead bits off and remove any dead leaves. Then water, keep moist and hope. When cutting back if you cut and the wood is green that is where to stop, if it is brown that bit is dead and you need to cut a bit further. It it is still alive Azaleas will back bud easily.

Thank you. I put it outside and trimmed some branches back. Wasn't sure how much to cut off. Is there a type of fertilizer or plat food I can give it to try and help?

When you cut back into the wood was there green? You can prune hard because as long as the wood is aive then it should back bud.
At the monent I would not use any fertiliser as it is so weak it will not help. I don't know what your weather is like but you need to keep it watered but don't allow it to stay wet, so wait until the soil is almost dry before watering again. You can use a chopstick to check moisture, if it comes out clean then water otherwise don't. One question is the water draining well?
Geoff.
