What to do with this azalea?

Hi
I have had this Azalea pre-bonsai for a year now. I had to repot it recently (the soil was very black and the roots were rotten.)
I was wondering what style I should go for with this one?
I'm letting some branches grow near the trunk in the hopes of making the trunk thicker (is that correct?).
It has gained 1,5 centimeters in thickness since last year (may).
