Gmelina progression.

Hello folks,
i wanted to share my gmelina philippensis progression.  I started this tree in a workshop back in August of this year.

My happy little tree.


After a wee bit of pruning.


Three months later.

I pretty happy with the development so far.  The apex still needs some work but the tree grows like a weed so in a few years it should start looking nice.

it looks like the heavily wired branch was pulled to the left and out of the large negative space... yes ?

are they not great shrubs ?

Wait until you see the bark as it ages.

On our side it is not wired, just grow and clip.
Please keep the group updated.

Also could you ask around and see if the lifespan is truly just around 50 years.

Yes, that branch is being moved up and to the right.  There are several buds on the back side of the upper trunk that I'm planning on growing out to fill the empty space.

They are great! and grow like crazy.  I have two planted in the ground and they have doubled in size over the last four months.  Not sure about the lifespan

just my opinion, and it is only based on the 2D image,
but moving that branch seems to have created a problem that did not need to be fixed, but now does...
and only added confusion to the left side of the tree...

perhaps it could have been left in place until the expected buds do what you expect them to ?

I, too, stand in a bit of a bewilderment. Is that shot from the rear?

looks like the, in the repotting the shrub was straightened.

I actually agree with you so thanks for the input. Heck if I new what i was doing... well where would the fun be in that...
It's growing really fast and nice. Overall for just 3 months of training I have plenty of opportunities it fix my mistakes

Beware of large cuts / wounds, they tend to rot and not heal.[ over 1/4 of an inch ]
Shrub survives through base of trunk suckers.

yes... when i had one, i do recall that they were very fast at throwing shoots...
