I like the idea for the first picture on the left. Great piece of material.

What does the other side look like? I think a more rounded canopy would be a good design option. Check out Walter Pall's website/non conifers for a little inspiration. I feel like the design you've outlined would be missing the mark somewhat.

...one other thing. That grass in the pot is not doing your tree any good. Better to pull it. Its a fertilizer and water sponge.

Far too early to make any styling suggestions. Let it grow for a few years and see how branches develop and where they emerge on the trunk. Heavy feeding and let to grow freely is the fisrt step.
Very good material though, that I look forward too see again in a few years.

Kind regards

What a stunning piece of material you have there. Morton is right though you need to get it to bud profuseley all over and grow some branches before thinking about styling it, but when you do you`ll have a real show stopper.

Hi Simon. Good to see your back on the site. This Field Maple came from the same site as my Elms. Its developing quite nicely mate.Maybe you could give it a bit more feed,to really get the strength going.

I was about to say the same as Will
if the tree was mine it would go in a bigger box and i would feed it well throughout the next growing season
and then start the styling the following season
its going to ge a really good tree when its completed
