Zelkova roots exposed 5 months

Post  apisit chuldecha on Thu May 26, 2016 5:24 am

Hello .
I got this material tree since around end of 2015 , I just did some rotate the main tree and work just for overall shape at first , after that let it firm along until summer, and now I just did managed the roots for composition , many of new buds start shooting out from the main primary branches in first shape and they would become the secondary branches and detail in next 3 month, I hope ,I can show more naked branches detail in this 2016 winter .

waiting for more detail.

Thank you for visiting my post.

Very interesting styling, I like it a lot.

I'm not so sure about the root on the right: I would perhaps remove it, or wire it more to the left so the part with leaves is more apparent, and with more movement. Here, it is at the front and very straight.

But again, I find your styling very interesting, I think you're on the right track (to make a bonsai I like Wink )

And I don't want to unearth an age-old discussion, but though it's not clear from the photos, I think that the leaves are too rounded to be Zelkova. I'm pretty sure it's a Chinese elm, Ulmus parvifolia (I have specimens of both species)

Thanks for your advised , I would manage the roots again once the time to repotting , the roots ball needs more work as well ,
I agree it should be Elm , and I also have Chinese elm, but the point make me confused is this tree has the full size leaf more than 1.5" that looks much bigger than my Chinese elm when I let them grown full size of both, and this tree is real fast grown , you can see the updated photo now , this is just 24 hours from the photo above, it looks more longer everyday 1 cm for each branch.
