photo experiment

Post  Eric F on Mon Feb 15, 2016 9:45 pm

Ok, lets see if y'all can see this. If it works, the pic is of a crazy strangler fig that I collected and dont know what to do with. So fingers crossed, I think it should work.

I got as far as these directions. http://servimg.com/vie or http://168.servimg.comf68 or img_20160...4931.jpg
Do those help? I feel close but yet so far from getting it right. Maybe a friend can help. Or maybe someone else. Sorry for wasting your time!

Eric,

this what is showing up -

The server at 168.servimg.comf68 can't be found, because the DNS lookup failed. DNS is the network service that translates a website's name to its Internet address. This error is most often caused by having no connection to the Internet or a misconfigured network. It can also be caused by an unresponsive DNS server or a firewall preventing Google Chrome from accessing the network.

I think there is a test area to try posting - write to Fiona for help.

Thanks K! I will figure it out.
Iwas reading the ibc months before my phone would link up so it not much of a shock..
In my months of reading I have seen some of your trees and they really are great, imho. Since I live in the tropics too, your trees are inspiring to me. You and A are a great help! So thank you for your time and inspiration..

Does this show up?
I signed up for photobucket but this other system keeps it from popping up. From servimg I can select a pic and the file Im trying to send's number is from there. It hast a "host" option but it never does anything. This CR system of service could be the problem, it didnt let me sign up for ibc ( or any other) until after months of trying one day it let me. So maybe thats the problem. I can forward pics in an IM on facebook or post pics. Or I really could be the worst at tech stuff, I relate more to trees. So lets see if it works..

Im using my cell phone, I dont have a computer. Thats a big part of the problem I think. And my lack of experience! It no problem on bnut or houzz. But its not the same. So maybe a friend can help. I joined photo bucket but I dont see a way to access it, only servimg. It really could be a local thing.. Servimg pops up in spanish, which is no problem for me but may be adding to the problem. Its just not intuitive like others. But I wont quit. Sooner or later, I will learn or find out whats gotta be done! Thanks for all help and advice..

Look at the post by John Quinn a few posts back in this thread . On the link he posts is a method of using photobucket to upload pics to here. Try that and see how you get on.

Ive updated the posting images tutorial to include Android.  It works from my phone and from my Samsung tablet.  I don't have an iphone so cant do a comparison.

Hopefully the new info will help you.

Here is the link to the tutorial:  http://ibonsaiclub.forumotion.com/t243-b-tutorial-on-posting-pics

If you are on the classic version of the forum on your phone, you should have all the regular commands available.

Go to the thread I've posted above and go to the section on uploading from photobucket. It should (in theory) be the same process.

Hey Eric, it is the same process as in the tutorial - except using a phone. LOL

I just posted the pic above from my photobucket account using my phone.

On your phone, go to your photobucket account and tap on the image you want to post.

Then tap on SHARE  and you'll get some options. Tap on Get links

That will open a screen with a number of options. Look for the one which says for forums, craigslist and some others.

Tap and hold on that and it highlights in blue. Then look for the options which are all icons - a pair of scissors and some others. The one wth the two rectangles is Copy. Tap on that and it automatically copies the image code.

Go over to IBC, find your thread, hit Post Reply to open a new message pane.

Tap and hold on the message pane and you will get the Paste command.

Tap on that and it will drop the photobucket image code into the pane.

Then hit Send.

There ya go. A wee middle-aged wumman can do it.

as an aside, pictures posted by any method other than IBC's hosting site may not show up on all computers and devices...
for some reason, youtube and photobucket hosted pictures do not show up for me on this computer...

Are you at work?  Sounds like you are being filtered...many hosting sites are often blocked due to pornography.  There are a few folks, such as MichealS I believe...whatever server he uses is blocked at school so I can only see his porn at home:)

I can see Fiona's photos...
