Schefflera on Sandstone 01110

This arboricola was moved last summer into a carved piece of native sandstone....I am continuing to work to widen the crown while keeping the growth tight and compact.

interesting planting... is the sandstone native to where you live or where scheffs grow ?

have you considered possibly removing a couplafew of the trunks just to loosen things up a bit ?

Good to hear from you, Kevin...I appreciate your comments. The sandstone is native and was collected in northern West Virginia. Over the years I have removed seven trunks from the composition....I am glad you made the suggestion about removing a few more possibly....I tend to lose track of individual trees sometimes as I suspect we all do from time to time. Thank you for bringing that to my attention.

Best regards,
Tom

no sweat tom... sometimes my novice status makes me hesitant to offer suggestions to those more experienced than me...

in more specific regard to possible trunk removal, i see alot of good right to left movement and the ones that cross that movement are what i would consider removing...

i think i like how the base of the clump seems to be pushing itself over the "cliff" of the front ridge and if it hangs on, it could become a really cool aspect of the planting...
