Damaged Ilex yaupon

Post  Khaimraj Seepersad on Wed Nov 11, 2015 3:52 pm

Once seen on IBC some years ago as a larger tree.
The previous owner, became so afraid of repotting, the shrub started to die.

I had no choice but to sink it deeper into the soil and saved two trunks.
Still trying to save it, the larger trunk had to be filled in at the back.
Until.
Comments yay or nay.

Not wild about the bow-legged look.  Left hand tree has the most promise from what I can see. I'd remove all of that low growth on the right, then see what's left.

Jim,

I am very afraid to remove that new growth, as I am very afraid the plant will go kaput.

Agreed, a poor design, but this shrub is not native and also no longer available as a nursery plant.
So now I do the - cluck cluck version.

Got any advice on boosting growth ?
Thanks in Advance.
