Juniper - Update Empty Juniper - Update

Post  rolandp Thu Dec 09, 2010 8:55 am

Dear IBC members.

Winter time is a bit boring from the bonsai perspective, not much to do with the trees and usually I spend this time to make some development plans of my trees. That’s the main reason why I like to share this tree with you in a very early stage of development.

Here is one Juniperus which I styled for the first time on a Progetto Futuro session with Ivo Saporiti in October 2010. For this stage we decided only to make the main branch selection, wire the main branches and put all main branches in position.

The work will be continued in March 2011 and I believe that the tree has a nice potential. The plan for the next step is to wire all small branches, put them in position and make some work on the deadwood

Before the first styling

Juniper - Update Brinking2010-09-001

After the first styling

Juniper - Update Brinking2010-09-002

Any comments, ideas, suggestions, opinions are very welcome.

Regards, Roland

Hi Roland,

Great tree and I am sure that over the years it will shape up to be a masterpiece. I can see the direction that the design is headed for and it is great.

A small input from my end incase you have not thought of the same by now is a little cropping on the top left of the tree. Once it is done the the tree might look something like this...

Juniper - Update Brinki10

Yes winters can get boring for Bonsaists in the temparate zones. We folks in the tropics are blessed with bonsai activity throughout the year with a break in December at best.

All the best with your tree and do share your progression images over the months/years...

Hi Ravi.

Thank you very much for your comment. I will definitely go in the direction you suggested.
The vision of the tree is something in this way.

I like what you did - working step by step and not stressing the tree too much with styling it all at once. With your intended form, it will surely make a very nice tree in a couple of years from now on! ThumbsUp

I agree - a very sound approach to styling a tree.

Thanks again for all nice comments. I’m really looking forward for the next step.

As mentioned this tree was styled in the session with Ivo Saporiti so he is the "guilty" one for the step by step approach (I’m not shore I would take the same approach Smile ) and he is the author of the sketch.

Dear IBC members.

The Juniperus became his second styling today at the sesond session of Progetto Futuro School, with Ivo Saporiti and Mauro Fregara.

In the next step I plan to work on the foilage, refinement of the crown and on the deadwood.

03-2011 - after todays styling

Juniper - Update Dsc0569s

Best Regards, Roland

Juniper - Update Empty Juniperus - Styling Update

Post  rolandp Mon Mar 07, 2011 7:49 am

Pavel, thanks for the nice comment.

There are many things that have to be done on the tree, like solving the problematic spot on the first left branch, refining the foliage, losing some branches at the top, when it is more developed and forming a top with les branches, the whole work on dead wood. But I think that it has a nice potential.

Cheers, Roland

Ivo is a great artist and when you have a good tree (like this one) it is worth creating the bonsai in carefully managed stages. Nice work.

Antonio, thanks for your comment.

Charles, thanks. The future plan is to develop and refine the foliage, style the tree with a bit les branches (first left branch and on the top) and of course design the entire deadwood. I will post some new photos as soon as some new progress is done.
