Chojubai Flowering Quince

Post  MichaelS on Wed Aug 05, 2015 4:12 am

Hi All
Mike from Victoria Australia.
Climate: cool wet winter - hot dry summer.

Here is a Chojubai quince I put together a few years back.
It was made by planting about 7 rhizomes under the soil and letting whatever came up grow. (as suggested by Kyuzo Murata) It is about 15 years old and this year was the first time it has ever seen wire.
Hope you like it.

The pot is very complimentary. Nice effect to set off the flowers. ThumbsUp

Wow, you guy's toss around complements like manhole covers!! This composition is incredibly nice!!! And in a form I find these dwarf quinces really do come into there own. Love it!! I've tried the red and white and I couldn't even coax a fuul season out of them. I've got two Chinese and the regular Japanese variety and they grow fine. Awesome job!!!! Don't like the pot, myself. The shape is perfect for me but I feel the glaze kinda' washes out the bark coloring. To similar to my eyes......but who cares??!!! Beautiful!!! If you lived within 150 miles of me, I'd be at your front door today with a wad of spendin' money!! Twisted Evil

signed....Envious Yank.....

Did I say awesome tree....?

Bonjour Mike,

A very unusual and refreshing picture: here, they flower around February. (2+6 months = August) Laughing

I would have chosen a blue-turquoise pot, like many I suppose, but the choice of a colour pot that is in harmony with the bark is a perfect match. Félicitations for this choice.

PS: Here, we're having the hottest summer in years, and the driest in 60 years in some areas Neutral When I see what's happening in California, I can but only wish you rain, a lot of gentle rain for the Spring.

That's a very nice chojubai and i DO like the pot color. The reds are so elegant, but I do like the white and the new orange as well. These last two are moe "clunky" with bigger blooms and leaves but still pretty nice.

Thanks for posting
