I have always wanted a yev in my garden as a bonsai, I have a small in training to become a shohin, but a bigger tree was something I have ben looking for...
Found a prebonsai for a very reasonable prize at the EBA convention, it is a Taxus bakata, 24 years old, and has ben repottet every 4th. year...Last year was it repottet and cut back, and in may did it look like a big healthy bush  Smile

I have given the first styling, and to make it more easy for showing, have I painted a little were buds are growing, but not realy visible on the Photo

To the top of the green is the tree standing 34 cm tall

This drawing is my model...but as you can see does the Growth hang under the branches...on the left side on my tree have I drawn it over the branch...what do you think of  the project, and what should I do diffrent?

kind regards Yvonne

310 people have ben looking at my tree....
No replies, witch often happens on IBC, but never the less quit boring, and reduce the postinspiration.

Buuuut....I am waiting for some new growth to appear, and this will make it possible to make a tree in the same natural style, but with a much more interesting movement, witch I ofcourse will go for.

I have googled natural taxustrees, and seen how they look....also taxusbonsai...they few I have seen are very pretty, but does look like Junipers to me. If you have a natural looking taxusbonsai with the branches set like the drawing I posted, am I very interested in seeing it...please post it here.

Kind regards Yvonne

Hi Budi

Happy you like the material...It has a very nice trunksice and branches placed nice and low.... it is ofcourse not in any way like old collected material, but can make a nice bonsai with time...how it will look in a couple of years is something I look forward to see too  Smile

Kind regards Yvonne

In two years' time, you may have shoots that are strong enough to withstand an initial styling. I wouldn't go for the image you're seeking in your drawing, sorry to say. Between now and a few years, you can explore other design options that will better emphasize the fat trunk base. Maybe you'll use the other side as a front? maybe tilt the tree in another position? How about some shari with a thin live vein? Your options are open right now. Smile

Not the best image.  but, it's an example of experimenting with the trunk line.

Hi Peter

Many thanks for your input...the tree you could have in mind, look very nice, and it can be a option...

My first cutting back, was done, as I could see some green and thin branches of value, would drown/ die back, or be squesed in unwanted directions....after being cut back, do the tree as you say, need to grow back again, and I am hoping more green will appear, as there are two more options in the tree I like better....the two sides has a better flow, and also does they give directons, like the nice tilt you made...and the nebari is better....both trees will be shorter than it is now.
It is a very basic tree I have left, and what in the end will be the most exiting option for it, can only the future say for now....if everything goes  the right way. and new branches grow vere I am doing what I can to give them all the help they need...can I give the best final styling.... , and nice sharis as you say, will be made in the future, as I see liveveans form under the bark.
I will be happy to share photos when the tree is ready for more styling, it could be interesting to see many options on the two sides  Smile

It was most of all the way to form and place the folagepads I want to do as natural as possible, and the apex...if anyone has photos of trees looking a lot like my drawing, could it be interesting to take a closer look at.

Kind regards Yvonne

Hi Bobbylane

I love the taxus too, and your photos are very nice

I repottet the tree during Winter, as I had to know exacly how the roots were, before making the final decisions for the tree, angle and so on

The root was quit big, and I cut it fairly far back...there has ben some dieback, and the tree need to show liveveans before I can take the next steps.

It will take a while before I do more.

Kind regards Yvonne

Some roots was quit heavy on the tree, and I carved this Little bird in one of them, as I could not remove the root, I could only reduce the volume of it...the rest of the root is doing fine,  and I a kinda love the bird

Thank you guys...

The bird will be a bird as long as it is there...with time will it probably become less birdlike, but that is OK.

Kind regards Yvonne
