Plant ID and Suggestions Please
Hello Everyone, I hope all is well. Rainy season already started in our region and plants are starting to grow fast. Last 2 weeks, I bought a plant in the local nursery but I was not able to know the exact ID of the plant. I plan to make it as bonsai but need to know some information. I am new to this hobby, hope you could help.
I would appreciate your help and welcome your suggestions.
Thanks,
Joel
- I would like to ask the specific ID of this plant, the owner of nursery just told me that this belongs to the cypress family
- Kindly provide some suggestions on how to start making it a good bonsai
- I plan to cut it off to shorten but would like to air layer the upper part so I could have other specimen to work with, is this OK for air layer?
- I think this is a slow growing plant, may ask some help on how to help it grow better?
I would appreciate your help and welcome your suggestions.
Thanks,
Joel

The last picture looks like a Boulevard Cypress. There is a great example of one on this site. The Search should find it.

San Jose juniper. Not in such great shape judging from the various brown tips.

Thanks everyone for the info and comments, I think I have to let this plant to rest for sometime before starting my project. I have also seen pictures in the book "Bonsai Bible" by Peter Chan, the plant leaves looks similar to the Japanese cedar. The closer look seems very identical to cedar and the branching is almost of the same type. Anyway, I have to do more research on this.
Thanks,
Joel
