trees with high grafts

1st I'm sorry for not posting pics. I've been trying for 3 days & can't wait anymore. these trees need to get planted. I just received some trees I ordered from a nursery who deals with bonsai, although not exclusively. I was quite surprised to see how high the grafts were. I got a Picea glehnii 'Yatsubusa' , which was my reason for ordering in the 1st place, an Abies pinsapo 'Horstmann' , a Pinus thunbergii 'Gyokoho' , an Acer palmatum 'Beni Kawa' , & an Acer palmatum 'Okukji Nishiki'. now the grafts on the maples aren't quite as bad but still not good. as for the others, the graft is BAD!! basically, they have an 8 inch "trunk" of understock with a nasty graft. I have no clue what species the understock is. now what I've read about the topic has been discouraging but I'm hoping there's a solution. I didn't know if I could air layer them, bury them deep to ground layer them, or use a tourniquet? & if any of these options would work, should I grow the new root system above or below the graft? also would it better to plant them and give them time to get established before I do anything with them or would it be better to try & deal with this ass soon as possible? any advice would be greatly appreciated. had I known what I'd receive, I would have saved my $ but... ok thank everyone in advance for your time & advice!

if it is a reputable nursery, you should be able to return them (at no return shipping cost to you)...

as it is a nursery that deals in bonsai (albeit not exclusively) they were probably aware that they were selling you crap material... and if you are new to the endeavor (just a guess on my part), and made the nursery aware of that, then maybe they thought they could dump said crap material off on someone who might not know better...

the maples can be airlayered but not on the same year that they were repotted. I think spruce can be grown from cuttings so it might air layer, I am not sure about the fir and don't think an air layer will work on the pine.

I know some pines can be layered. JBP but not sure of the variety. The maples can beayered and as mentioned shouldn't be done on a repot year.
