Help with Maples Empty Help with Maples

I transplanted an Amur Maple about a month and a half ago. There was a fair amount of feeder roots.

However, it has refused to leave out even though we are approaching about two 1/2 weeks at 60-80f.

Almost everything else has fully leafed out or is well on its way.

There are some greenish buds around the tree that aren't elongating. They've been that way for a while.

I keep thinking its dead and certain branches have died for sure. But many others are green in them when scratched.

Anyone else have a Maple stay leafless for a long time after repotting like this?

Yes. It is most likely using its energy to develop new roots so don't give up yet.

Of course, it may also be dead. That has also happened to my maples.

Be patient. I've had trees wait until June to leaf out. Don't scratch the bark or mess with the buds, just let it be.

As someone who lives much farther north than you I would also recommend staying patient, nothing leafs out here until mid May. Even the trees in the ground.
