For Serious Bookies
I'm starting to unload my collection of bonsai books. I'm a hopeless book collector, anyway, and over the last 20 or so years, I've scoured storefront and online bookstores for bonsai books as well until I owned almost everything written in English on the subject. I've been giving them away over the last year and am making a big push to rid myself of the rest now.
Most of the how-to and picture albums will go to a local friend. Many of the rest will go to the Blue Ridge Bonsai Society, but I have a few that I think should find a home with someone like me who just adores books for the sake of their being books. Is there, somewhere a repository for old, quite useless, but vaguely historical books on bonsai? Preferably it would be somewhere that more than one person could have access.
Serious responses only. I am NOT gonna offer them to just anyone.
Note: They"re NOT valuable. They do NOT have pictures of lovely, prize winning bonsai in them. One or two may have been written by people you've heard of; most haven't. They date from the 1950s through the early 70s. I don't think there are any first editions, but that's pretty meaningless for bonsai books, anyway.

I'd be keen to hear more about what you are trying to get off your shelves.
Granted, I would have to build another set of shelves before soon. But books.. Let's say we have put a library in our house, as we both are book addicts. Quite some pretty useless books, such as 3 copies of Brehms Tierleben (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brehms_Tierleben), one of them leatherbound first editions, just because otherwise they would have been tossed. But basically anything from Stephen King, through bonsai to the main religious world text can be found in our library..
